Rob’t ROSKELL, Liverpool. No 43365
An unusual Lancashire movement, circa 1830, from the Alan Treherne collection.
£35.00
Small capped fullplate fusee movement with plain cock, the frame with no Lancashire size or movement makers stamps. Cylinder (deadbeat) escapement with beautifully polished steel English escape. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. Gold hands. 34 mm diameter.
Robert Roskell, famous watch, clock and chronometer making firm, one of the most influential of Lancashire watch manufacturers, and certainly among the most successful English retailers in the South American market. NB: This small cylinder movement is likely to have been a special order, perhaps to fit earlier cases.
Lacking dial and minute hand short. Otherwise complete and nothing appears broken, but unwilling to tick – sold as needing at least a service and fresh oil to work properly.
