Good quality movement with Savage 2-pin lever escapement, circa 1825, from the Alan Treherne collection.
£45.00
Fullplate movement with going fusee, the maintaining power rather wheel of brass, as often seen in early work. Savage 2-pin detached lever escapement with single-pin banking via a forked tail to the lever. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. 43.5 mm diameter.
Abraham Jackson, Castle Street (the centre of Liverpool chronometer making), Liverpool, chronometer and watch maker of repute, noted for his use of the Savage 2-pin escapement in watches.
Lacking dial, hands, brass-edge, motion work and cap, otherwise complete. Not cleaned by my and obviously gummed up with dried oil, but looking as though a service and fresh oil would see it running.
NB. All illustrations and photographs of watches, ephemera, etc, shown on my website are part of my extensive library of horological images. Please contact me for a license to use any of them. Signed copies of my escapement drawings, on top quality paper suitable for framing, also available – prices from £50.
