T J WILLIS – new/old stock
From the remaining, unsold stock of Charles Hector Golay, circa 1900.
£25.00
Best quality ‘double sunk’ (three-piece) off-white hard enamel dial. Not signed signed WILLIS on the rear, probably because of the dials construction. Approx 45 mm in diameter and 10 mm between the centre and seconds holes.
T J Willis, 19 River St, Myddleton Square, London ‘established 178(6)7,’ the justly famous maker of the finest English hard enamel dials used by just about all the top English watchmaking firms.
NB: An uncommon form of English dial but as described by F D Willis in his 1966 talk, as printed in my recent Profile No 3 on ‘Enamel Watch Dials…’
NB: This dial was made without dial feet and they were intended to be fitted into metal rims that snapped-on to the Golay frames of the period. Dial feet can always be added of course. I have a few of this exact size dial in stock if wanted.
