No 1000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beautifully engraved fullplate fusee movement, the cap with \u2018hare &amp; snail\u2019 engraving, with the addition of hands emphasising the direction, the cock sporting a diamond endstone which the pierced cap emphasises. cylinder (dead beat) escapement retaining its Graham-type banking via a pin in the cylinder. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. Lovely convex edged enamel dial, original pierced gold hands. 40 mm diameter, 14 mm deep, not including centre arbor.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Lister junior, (1745, 1814), one of a family of famous clockmakers, but also retailing nicely finished watches. NB: I have always thought that many watchmakers reserved significant serial numbers for their better work, this being a fine example. A movement in Alan\u2019s collection for many years, my records show that it was sold at Christies in 1961 in its original gold case hallmarked 1802.<\/p>\n<p>A small scratch on the dial between 4 and 5 and a knuckle broken from the movement joint. Otherwise in fine condition.
