Highly decorative cards given away with jars of Liebig beef extract (similar to our Bovril) between 1880 and 1920. Printed in the then new vibrant chromolithography, with text on the reverse giving a short description of the scenes depicted, as well as information about this primarily Argentinian (Fray Bentos) based company. 10.7 x 7.3 cm.<\/p>\n
The subjects rather romantically depicted are: Montre, Pendule, Horloge \u00e9lectrique, Sablier, Cadran solaire and Clepsydra.<\/p>\n
Sold in France and Belgium, the Liebig Company were one of the first, and best, companies to see the merit of using such decorative cards in order to create collectors and, of course, users of their beef extract.<\/p>\n
