Brass fullplate hollow-back (no brass-edge) movement with barrel-bar covering both barrels, no train or fusee but with both barrels in place and intact. No movement maker’s stamp but probably Lancashire work. 49 mm diameter.<\/p>\n
English watch manufacturing was split into at least forty separate specialist trades at this time, around 50% who were involved in the manufacture of rough movements, which the Swiss\/French called an ebauche. It is easy to see how much work was still needed at this point, but also to see how wonderfully good and crisp was the work of these pre-eminent, mostly Prescot area based specialists.<\/p>\n
NB: Few English fullplate rough movements are known to have survived, even less with alarm work.<\/p>\n
