Thos JOYCE, Whitchurch. No 56803
Lancashire lever movement with unusual banking, circa 1840, from the Allan Treherne collection.
£35.00
Capped fullplate fusee movement with nicely engraved cock. Single-roller detached lever escapement, the waisted lever banking via a rare Massey-type banking block, and mounted at the fork rather than the tail of the lever – most unusual. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. 42 mm diameter.
Thomas Joyce, Whitchurch, retailer.
Lacking dial, hands and motion work, but retaining brass-edge. Otherwise complete and nothing appears broken, but does not continue to tick if wound. Sold as needing at least a service and fresh oil to work properly.
