STAUFFER, Geneva

Good Swiss duplex movement with jewelled impulse, circa 1850.

Item 102707 Categories: Watch Movements, Watches

£125.00

Slim pale gilt barred movement jewelled to the 3rd, the frame numbered 849. Duplex (frictional rest) escapement, both locking and impulse jewelled. Compensation balance, spiral balance-spring. Lovely single-sunk (in the English style) signed enamel dial in perfect condition, blued-steel hands. 42.5 mm diameter, only 7 mm deep.

Stauffer, Geneva, important watch manufacturers, with strong connections to the English market.

Lacking one dial screw and the gilding with the bloom of dried up oil, otherwise in fine original condition. Not cleaned by me, and although it tries to tick, it is sold as needing at least a service and fresh oil to work correctly.
