Printed covers, dust jacket, short introduction by Seth Atwood, 81 lots illustrated in colour. comment on the now closed museum and its collection by Justice Shepro, plus a short bibliography.
The first significant section of the Time Museum’s most important collection of clocks and watches (lots 1-81), once displayed at a Rockford Motel, and a necessary part of the various auction sales of what was truly a wonderful collection, the putting together of which Seth has never been properly credited.
Watches include the Henry Graves super-complicated oversized watch by Patek Philippe, tourbillons by Breguet and Paul Ditisheim; with clocks by Janvier, Tompion, Robin, a Breguet sympathique, and much else.
NB: At the time of this catalogue, the majority of the Atwood collection (1400 items) were part of a purchase agreement that saw the collection going to the City of Chicago where they would be displayed either at the History of Science and Industry or the Adler Planetarium. This never took place, partly because of the untimely death of one of the major fund-raisers, Justice Shepro.
