Martin MATTHEWS – Engine Turning 1680 -1980. The Tools & Techniques

A rare signed and numbered first edition.

Item 105734 Categories: Books, etc, Books

£95.00

Printed boards, 175 pages + bibliography and a list of rose Engine makers from an 1823 Directory. Sepia tone illustrations throughout, with one tipped-in colour photograph of the Society of Engine Turner’s Holtzapffel Rose Engine. Privately printed for the author in 1984, this being signed by Martin and numbered 96, one of just 100 that were so issued.

An important work on the subject that has long been unavailable. A modern reprint has recently been produced, but none of course can bear Martin’s signature as he died in 2013 – see his obituary in the June 2013 issue of Antiquarian Horology.

Almost as new, obviously treasured by its original owner.
