LECOMPTE, Genève. No 27900
Unusual post-Ingold Swiss movement with upside fusee, for the English-speaking market, circa 1845.
£25.00
Small three-quarter plate fusee movement with raised and engraved section in the top plate over the centre wheel which is run in the continental manner ‘over’ the balance. Cylinder escapement with steel escape. Gold balance, spiral balance-spring. 33.5 mm diameter.
The firm of Lecomte, recorded in Pritchard, but about which little appears to be known. NB: While small and slim movements coming out of Geneva are well known at this period, this Swiss movement is rare in both having a fusee and in mounting it upside down, the great wheel being next to the top-plate.
An unusual and interesting movement, but lacking dial, hands and motion work and its cylinder broken – priced accordingly.
