Gold openface ‘crystal’ case hallmarked London 1919, casemaker FT (Fred Thoms, Clerkenwell). Keyless going-barrel movement jewelled to the 3rd, the top plate heavily engraved ‘MAKER TO THE ADMIRALTY AND THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT’ as is typical of the firm at this date. Single-roller detached lever escapement, compensation balance, balance-spring with overcoil. Off-white enamel dial in perfect condition, blued-steel hands. 49 mm diameter.

The firm of Joseph White & Son ‘Makers to the Admiralty and the Indian Government,’ working in the district of Earlsdon, one of the foremost Coventry watch manufacturers.
