BENNETT ‘Clockmaker to the Royal Observatory’

Rare colour lithographic print showing shop front, circa 1856.

Item 2745 Categories: Books, etc, Prints, etc

£85.00

Rare contemporary image of Bennett’s shop front at 65 Cheapside, London. Image size 4.5 x 3.5 ins (11 x 9 cm), with good margins, as seen. Not dated, and I am unaware of its origin, but it shows the premises before they were enlarged to incorporate No 64 next door.

John Bennett, later Sir John Bennett, one of London’s most active and interesting retailers of the second half of the 19th century.

Some minor browning at edges, otherwise good and clean. Well worth framing.
