The American Watch Company, Waltham, USA, one of the pre-eminent manufactures of machine-made watches, about whom much has been written and whose reputation is second to none – this model rates 2-stars in the 2003 Shugart Price Guide. NB: The ‘Bridge Model’ was the last of the American Watch Company grade watches to be made prior to Waltham renaming their top grades Riverside and Premier Maximus. It is said to have been specially designed by a small group of Swiss watchmakers who were hired to modernise the company’s line of watches.
Arthur Saunders ’The Waltham Watch Depot’ 3 Southampton Row, High Holborn, one of the leading London retailers of American Waltham watches. The shop was still in existence up until the 1980’s their shop being the last in London to have a large hanging Waltham watch sign – I worked nearby in the 1970’s and often passed it.
In good original condition, wear to the button showing the watch has been used, but it has obviously been looked after. The box also in good condition. Serviced for its previous owned and guaranteed.
