A.P No 1259
Top quality Swiss repeater with jewelled duplex escapement, circa 1835.
£195.00
Slim gilt barred movement in the style of Breguet, highly jewelled with ‘parachute’ on top balance endstone, the plunge-operated quarter repeat work mounted under the dial and the hollow-back frame stamped A.P 1259. Duplex escapement with jewelled impulse roller and steel escape,. Plain balance with compensation-curb mounted on the index, spiral balance-spring. 40.5 mm diameter and just 4.5 mm deep, not including centre arbor or the dial, which is lacking.
The quality of design and manufacture is higher than usual but I have not been able to identify the A.P stamp.
Dial hands and repeater quarter cam lacking, and all rather dirty with dried out oil. Otherwise it looks intact and nothing obviously broken so it may work after a service and fresh oil. Not working.
